Implants

A patient who is missing teeth and can benefit from increased chewing efficiency, and improved appearance or speech, is a candidate for Dental Implants. The Dental Implant consists of a non-reactive metal anchor placed surgically in the jawbone.

The process consists of an initial placement of the implant followed by

a period of 3-9 months for “osteointergration” to occur.  The implant, now firmly anchored to the jaw is uncovered in a simple surgery, and the patient sent to the dentist for crown, bridge, or denture placement, using the implant as a fixed anchor.

You are a candidate for Implants if:

  • You have enough bone, and dense enough bone, to secure the implant.

  • You do not have a disease or condition that interferes with proper healing, such as diabetes, radiation/chemotherapy for cancer or smoking.   A consultation with one of our doctors concerning Implant surgery will answer all your questions concerning this new and exciting replacement technique.
